WEINIG ANONIMO VOOR LIDMAATSCHAP PUBLIEKE OMROEP
Maar liefst 59 procent van de huidige leden van de publieke
omroepen wil straks alleen een omroepblad nemen en geen lid
worden. Slechts 31 procent wil abonnee èn lid van een omroep
zijn. Dat blijkt uit een onderzoek onder ruim 400 Nederlanders,
gedaan door het bureau Research voor Beleid Holding. Nu is
iedereen die een rtv-gids ontvangt, meteen lid van die omroep.

TIENTJESLIDMAATSCHAP OMROEPEN WORDT IN 1998 EEN GEELTJE
De tientjeslidmaatschap van de publieke omroepen wordt in 1998
fors duurder. Het minimumbedrag dat de steunleden gaan betalen
gaat naar 25 gulden per jaar. Maar of dat geleidelijk, over de
loop van het kalenderjaar, dan wel in korte tijd zal gebeuren,
staat nog te bezien. In een maandag bij de Tweede Kamer
ingediend wetsvoorstel wordt de verhoging tot 25 gulden
voorzien voor 1998. Van die 25 gulden moet de omroep dan 15
gulden besteden aan programma's. Voor die 25 gulden heeft het
"geeltjeslid" dan nog geen omroepblad.

CANAL+ RESTRUCTURING
It is easy get an idea of the structure of the French electronic media market
because all major companies are in a way interconnected. At the same time, that
makes it extremely difficult to write about it.
Even though one of the major players, Compagnie Générale des Eaux, seems
inclined to sell its stake in pay-TV giant Canal+ to Havas SA, the scene will
not become less complicated. At the same time Générale des Eaux would take over
Havas shares so far held by Alcatel-Alsthom as well as new shares from a stock
appreciation. Thus Générale des Eaux would become the largest Havas
shareholder.
Both Générale des Eaux and Havas have confirmed they are in talks about the
deal but declined to give any further comment.
At the same time, several reports indicate that Canal+ and some other major
players, especially Italy's Silvio Berlusconi and Germany's Leo Kirch, were
planning a major disentanglement of their TV interests (Sat-ND, 27.1.97.)
For example, Canal+ and Kirch may swap their stakes in Germany's premiere and
Italy's Telepiú. Kirch would become largest premiere shareholder, and Canal+
would gain the same position at Telepiú. However, it is still unclear whether
Telepiú will keep its important terrestrial outlets, serving 800,000
subscribers, under dangling new media legislation. Direct-to-home satellite
reception still is a marginal factor in the Italian TV landscape. Maybe that's
why Canal+ now let it be known that they were never interested in a total
retreat from premiere.
As Silvio Berlusconi also is a Telepiú shareholder, it might be interesting to
know that he reportedly has agreed to give up his 33 percent stake in Deutsches
SportFernsehen, which is not only a Kirch-dominated sports channel but also
offers several sports channels within Kirch's digital pay-TV venture DF1.

LEO BUYS POLYGRAM RIGHTS
Is this Leo Watch or what? Fair enuff. Leo Kirch has acquired the exclusive
pay-TV rights from the Anglo-Dutch company PolyGram Filmed Entertainment. The
ten-year contract also includes pay-per-view, near video on demand and video on
demand rights for all movies PolyGram will release on the German market.
PolyGram is in own of Philips.

NEDERLANDS GELUID EUROSPORT NU ECHT NIET MEER VOOR DTH
Het Nederlands geluid van EuroSport is nu voorgoed verleden tijd
voor individuele schotelontvangers. Op de voormalige soundsubcarrier
(7.38 MHz) is dit bericht te horen: "Het Nederlandse
geluidkanaal is vanaf nu gecodeert. Stal uw Satelliet Ontvanger in op
7.02 MHz om het Engelse geluidskanaal van EUROSPORT te ontvangen".
EuroSport zou wat betreft het Nederlands geluid niet meer beschikbaar komen
voor Direct to Home (DTH) ontvangst. Via de kabel blijft het Nederlands geluid
uiteraard te ontvangen, het coderen is een voortvloeitsel uit 'het kwartje'
dat EuroSport aan de kabelexploitanten vraagt per jaar per abonnee.
Overigens gaan er geruchten de ronde dat EuroSport deel uit zou
gaan maken van het NetHold/MultiChoice digitale pakket.

VOA EXPRESS ALLEEN NOG DIGITAAL
VOA Express (de nieuwe naam voor VOA Europe) is alleen
nog digitaal te ontvangen. Dit betekend voor alle schotelbezitters
het einde van de (analoge) ontvangst. Voor diegenen die
VOA Express toch met SCPC zouden kunnen ontvangen,
de Satelliet is de EutelSat 2F4M en de frequentie 12.569 GHz H. SCPC.
Via de oude frequentie zendt nu Deutsche Welle met een programma
in verschillende talen uit,
