Re: van Eck-system
Question:
Super, Dein Buch!

English Summary:
Just finished your book and two questions are left:
The van Eck-system (reading out PC-Screens from a distance) could be
used by spy-satellite, says Discovery-Channel. Is this true and will you
cover this in TSI or a new book?
Are pagers not save? A german scanner-magazine says so.

Dr.Dish:
The van eck-system enables you to read out your neighbors pc-screen up
to a distance of about 100m. Even very powerful receivers on a satellite
cant receive this data. Discovery is wrong! The equipment costs between
1100 and 1900 US$. Do-it-yourself is much cheaper (around 250,- US$).
No, no story on this one, because it is not satellite-related.
Reading the pager messages on VHF and UHF is an old and very well known
story. For a little as US$ 10,- plus a antenna and a scanning-receiver
you can read all the messages without any problem. We proved this in a
report of the german MDR-TV. Again, no story on this one, because it is
known and not satellite related
