BSkyB Book Puts Lachlan Murdoch As Future News Corp. Chief
News Corp. head Rupert Murdoch expects his son Lachlan to succeed
him in the future as chief executive of the company, according to a book
detailing British Sky Broadcasting - one of News Corp.'s successes.
"Sky High - The Inside Story of BSkyB" by media analyst Mathew
Horsman, expected to be released in Britain later this month, quotes
Murdoch as saying his children agreed Lachlan would eventually take
over News Corp., which has a 40 percent stake in BSkyB.
"Currently it is their consensus that Lachlan will take over," Rupert
Murdoch was quoted as saying. "He will be the first among equals, but
they will all have to prove themselves.
"The succession at News Corp. depends on how long I stay compos
mentis," he added.
Lachlan Murdoch is executive chairman of News Corp.'s Australian
subsidiary, News Ltd. Rupert's daughter Elisabeth is general manager of
broadcasting at BSkyB.
