Correction on Sat -Corfu 4/7

 

 

 

* We apologize for the mistake that appeared on the last mailing list message on 4/7 concerning the lease of Thor 3 by SES.

Now the correct message:

SES signed a deal with Nordic Satellite Company, NSAB, owner of the Sirius satellites, to lease the new Sirius 3 when it launches this autumn. Sirius 3 will be posotioned  at 28.2° E and will act as a backup to the also new Astra 2A ( to be launched in August).

It will probably also provide some extra transponder capacity.

The lease ends in one year and then Sirius 3 will return to its permanent position at  5° E, replacing the old Sirius 1 and providing more capacity and greater coverage.

The decision to lease Sirius 3 was taken after thorough market analysis concluded that the slower than expected roll-out of digital satellite television in Scandinavia will lead to a delay in the demand for transponder capacity in the Nordic market.

 

 

* Ζητάμε συγγνώμη για το λάθος οσον αφορά την ενοικίαση απο την εταιρεία SES του Τhor 3.
Πρόκειται για τον δορυφόρο Sirius 3 και όχι για τον Thor 3 και οι όροι της συμφωνίας είναι οι εξής :
Οταν εκτοξευτεί ο Sirius 3 το φθινόπωρο θα τοποθετηθεί στις  28.2° E και θά χρησιμεύσει ώς
εφεδρεία για τον Astra 2A που θα εκτοξευτεί τον Αύγουστο. Εκτός απο απλή εφεδρεία σίγουρα θα
προσφέρει πρόσθετα κανάλια, αφού η ζήτηση είναι μεγάλη. Πάντως μετά την 1η Οκτωβρίου 1999,
πρέπει να βρίσκεται στη μόνιμη θέση του στις 5° E, όπου θα αντικαταστήσει τον παλιό Sirius 1. H
σκανδιναυϊκή εταιρία Nordic Satellite Company, NSAB, ιδιοκτήτρια των Sirius, οδηγήθηκε στην
ενοικίαση του νεου της δορυφόρου, γιατί, όπως δηλώνει η αύξηση των αναγκών για νέους
transponders στην Σκανδιναυϊκή αγορά είναι μικρότερη απο τα αναμενόμενα και ετσι η χρήση του
δορυφόρου αυτού δεν είναι αναγκαία στην παρούσα περίοδο.
