Here in Lebanon we use at this moment a 3.7m dish and even some
Astra-channels in in more or less good quality. But to receive digital
signals a much larger dish is required. We are looking for second hand offer
for a affordable price. Transportation from Europe is not the problem.
Search the net was been a unsuccessful job and we need your valuable
contacts on this matter. The next question is the choice of digital
satellite receiver. He should be able to work on MCPC and SCPC and also
store the channels and different satellites into the memory. From the IFA at
Berlin we received only conflicting reports. One receiver is able to receive
analogue and digital signals but not the SCPC-transmissions. Another do
receice SCPC but can´t store them.

For TELE-satellite International magazine I just tested the new version of
NOKIA´s 9600. This receiver store at the moment up to 8 satellites (32 on
the end of the year, say´s NOKIA) at is able to receice and store MCPC and
SCPC. The entering of the PID-codes is done directly via the advanced search
menu. In case the PID´s are unknown you choose for auto-search inside the
data-stream for the correct codes. The test is publisehd in the recent issue
of TSI (9-10/97).
