THE HEADLINES IN THIS REPORT:
- SKY News on DStv SA
- Express 2 beam adjustment
- MPEG2 on Amos ?
- Hot Bird reception in Kenya
- ARABSAT 2B ?
PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
SKY News has started on the Multichoice South African package, channel
21. The DStv txm are receivable from 12.517 GHz, H, 12.544 GHz, H,
12.577 GHz, H, 12.637 GH, V and 12.664 GHz, V. They are MPEG-2 Irdeto
coded with a SR of 21850 and a FEC of 7/8.
ARABSAT 1C, 30.5 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a1c.html
----------
STAR TV's Prime Sports is now txm on ORBIT channel 6, this is the most
obvious reason why they are broadcasting their signal via Arabsat 1C on
txpr 6, 3.810 GHz, Lc.
Orbit has made a deal with Star TV to broadcast 9 of their channels in
the Middle Eastern package; are there also more feed signals to come ?
They are welcome, but will for obvious reasons not stay in the clear for
long.
ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Early in the morning the normal dia from the Quatary JSC Al-Jazeera
channel, on txpr 1, 12.521 GHz, H, was for a period of time exchanged
against the older Philips test card, with the mentioning of the two txm
satellites, Arabsat 26 E, 12.521, H, and Eutelsat 16 E, 11.080, H.
Christian Lyngemark in Sweden reported that the Ku band on Arabsat 2A
was stronger than ever last night! He could actually lock on and get
colour on Syrian TV on txpr 4, 12,578 GHz, V. Normally, he can only see
that "something" is moving on the screen.
Thanks to Christian, Webmaster and European coordinator of SATCO-DX, for
this report, hopefully it's stays this way.
HOT BIRD 2, present location around 25 East
----------
SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
The Hot Bird 2 signals from the widebeam could be received in Bahrain
with a 12ft (360 cm) dish.
HOT BIRD 1, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hotbird.html
----------
An amazing story of DX reception just came in from Mombasa, Kenya.
Here the original version:
Someone has just managed to receive the RAI UNO channel on Hot Bird in
the Ku Band with an 8 meter dish made out of cement! The reption is not
all that good, but acceptable. The amazing thing is that the person who
made the dish using tons of cement coated with aluminium foil and
covered with fibreglass resin. It has been constructed in a fixed
position. The guy must have done some amazing calculations in order to
get the correct posion for 13 East. What's more, he has already started
work on a 13 metre dish which looks like something out of Star Wars.
Many thanks for this report to Abdul Bakhrani in Mombasa.
AMOS 1, 4 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
Txpr 6L, 11.653 GHz, V, is again switched off.
Txpr 3, middle frequency of 11.159 GH, V, is after txm a colorbar test
card, available with a very strong signal, most probably in MPEG-2. Is
anybody able to lock in to the signal. My IRD found no TS, after several
parameter changes. It is possible that they transmit with a low Symbol
Rate, which my IRD cannot read.
In the morning txpr 4L, 11.468 GHz, V, ("IBA CNCT CH1") showed a new
test card, mentioning in the lower section "IBA Jerusalem".
EXPRESS 2, 14 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2.html
---------
In yesterdays report I mentioned the improved reception quality of ORT 1
on txpr 17, 4.125 GHz, Rc.
Dr.Dish in the Netherlands added the confirmation of Intersputnik:
Yes, there was some beam correction via antenna A6, which is steerable
in north/south direction (7.3°/7.3°). Thanks to him for this comment.
INTELSAT 515, 21 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/ik.html
------------
On 3.914 Ghz, Rc, usually used by Tele Sahel, txm of Canal+ Horizons
could be seen during the afternoon. Sound as usual in SCPC.
The info's concerning Orbit, Sky News and the HB2 reception report were
kindly transmitted by Fred Zazisky, Bahrain. Thanks.
QUESTION: Has anybody picked up any signal from Arabsat 2B ? I'm still
unable to find a sign of this bird, even three weeks after the
succesfull launch. Any report will be welcomed in my mailbox.
Best regards,
