THE HEADLINES IN THIS REPORT:

- Showtime additions
- Kuwait TV ?
- Bits & Pieces

PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hotbird.html
----------
Various resources confirm now the adding of three channels to the
Showtime Network DStv bouquet as from early 1997. The suplemented
channels are: The Discovery Channel, Library (a classic movie channel)
and Style (a 'woman's interest' channel).

The present transmission contract of the Discovery Channel with the
Orbit Network is terminated on 31. December 1996.

Peter Einstein, a high ranking Viacom officiel, presently residing the
MTV Network Organization in London, has been called in by Showtime to
organize and improve the companies marketing and sales strategies.
A lack of paying subscribers could be the reason. It seems all ventures
selling digital broadcast packages to the viewing public have their
difficulties, at least outside the USA.

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
KSC Kuwait TV still has problems with its Ku-Band txpr 7, 12.646 GHz, H.
Early morning an empty carrier was only visible, during the day the txpr
was even switched off. Normal txm continued on the C-Band txpr 21, 4.167
GHz, Rc.

Nile TV on txpr 5, 3.802 GHZ, Rc, took their usual afternoon break and
closed down the txpr. It seems they perform this trick now every other
day.

HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hotbird.html
----------
ART on txpr 65, 12.015 GHz, H, has revived the "Europe" to the on-screen
logo. The same is of-course valid for the presently identical broadcast
on Eutelsat II-f3.
If a similar "Africa" logo on the DStv C-Band broadcasts from PAS-4 is
used is unknown, while the txm is coded and I do not have access to a
valid smartcard, yet.

A lot of testing is going on also today, mostly on superbeam. MPEG2
packages are mixed, tried out, repacked etc. etc.
No additional analogue channels appeared.

EUTELSAT II-f4-M, 10 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2f4.html
----------------
Txpr 22U, 11.178 GHz, H, normally used by RTS Sat, Serbia, was used as
txm platform for an Apple seminar during the afternoon.

INTELSAT 601, 27.5 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/i601.html
------------
The IRDETO coded colorbar test card, available after the ceasing of
KTV/Supersports txm, on txpr 101L, 3.749 GHz, Lc, has been removed
today, an empty carier is active. The South African Radio station on
7.20 MHz is still receivable.

PANSAMSAT 3-R, 43 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
-------------
The Panamsat test card switched txpr again today and is again on 12.701
GHz, V.

Best regards,
