THE HEADLINES IN THIS REPORT:
- HB2 Superbeam in Cairo
- Polonia 1 on HB2
- Kuwait in trouble
- Bits & Pieces
Not too much items today, but an important one at first:
HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
The big news for the MidEast is the reception of an analogue txpr on the
SUPERBEAM !
Polonia 1 txm their first test card at about 20:30 CET on txpr 53,
11.785 GHz, H and wonder oh wonder, the picture is acceptable. Of course
with all the treshold I've got an video and sound in the narrowest
bandwidth, but good visible, even for normal TV consumption. Very little
sparkies and an clear sound. Quality is of course not comparable to the
widebeam transmissions, but much, much better then the west beam of the
Turksat, for instance.
Offcial broadcasting of Polonia 1 started at 21:00 CET, a sound carrier
is presented on 6.60 Mhz.
Comment: This is really good news for the area, it means that all future
broadcasts from Hot Birds 3, 4 and especially 5, which will replace the
Eutelsat II-f1, will be receivable with some effort. The present
superbeam of the Eutelsat II series is hardly visible. This means a lot
of interesting channels in the future; channels where everybody has been
longing for.
The initial views from the Hot Birds 29 East test postion did not give
too much hope, but it seems now to turn out well.
ART on txpr 65, 12.015 Ghz, H, (I reported for a few days the
re-apperance of the word "Europe" in the logo) is txm an identical
programm for Africa from the Panamsat 4 on 68.5 east. Here the programm
is called ART Africa, as Fred Zaziski reports from the Emirates.
Now to further sightings:
GORIZONT 24, 80 East, SATCO-DX: http://satcodx.com/hb2.html
-----------
Somebody must have turned the beam of the Ku-Band txpr K1 on 11.525 GHz,
Rc, a little more westwards, at least over the days the picture
improved a lot. Previously only to be guessed at, now it is good visible
and sync-locks on screen.
PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, SATCO-DX: http://satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
Home TV on txpr 6L, 3.845 GHz, V, closed very early (20:00 CET) today
and started txpr testing.
ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Despite my good hopes, Kuwait TV did not solve all the up-linkl problems
on txpr 7, 12.646 GHz, H. Txm were interupted a few times, colorbar test
cards were shown and signal levels dropped at times significant.
Best regards and a merry Christmas,
