- Bits & Pieces

ORT-1 has changed their on-screen logo on all transmitting transponder
on various satellites.

EXPRESS 6, 80 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e6.html
---------
TB3 started broadcasting yesterday on transponder 17, 4.125 GHz, Rc. As
on the Express 2, 14 West, the transponder is showing during daytime
only an empty carrier without sound carriers.

INTELSAT 602, 63 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/1602.html
------------
The Cinquestelle feed on transponder 62L, 11.055 GHz, H, has ceased and
has been replaced with a test card of the Fucino Earth Station.

INTELSAT 703, 57 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
While the signal of transponder 65, 11.550 GHz, H, of Kasakh TV improved
a lot, the reception quality of Ethiopian TV on transponder 63, 11.168
GHz, H, did not get a bit better. Are they then really featured on two
different beams (zone/spot) ?

GORIZONT 31, 40 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/g31.html
-----------
REN TV has been observed at 08:00 CET on transponder 11, 3.925 GHz, Rc,
with a sound carrier on 7.00 MHz.

ARABSAT 2B, 29.3 East, SATCO-DX; http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
Peter C. Klanowski (SAT-ND) reports, with the help of NORAD telemetric
data, the latest Arabsat 2B almost on his final position 30.5 East. The
satellite is moving there from 22 East with a drift of 0.7 degrees per
day eastwards.

Comment: This has perfectly be planned so that the French engineering
staff could take there deserved Christmas and New Year break and start
testing as off tomorrow, in order to get the satellite operational prior
to the beginning of Ramadan (10th of January). ;-)

The Arabsat 1C has already slightly been moved aside to 31.3 East.

Take a look at Peter Klanowski's SAT-ND Pages for interesting news and
info:

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Syria TV changed today from transponder 14, 3.999 GHz, Lc to the
high-power C-Band transponder 17 on 4.085 GHz, Rc. The sound carrier on
this transponder is 6.60 MHz.

Syria TV ceased on Ku-Band transponder 4, 12.578 GHz, V.

Transponder 14 is presenting now Abu Dhabi TV, identical to Ku-Band
transponder 6, 12.620 GHz, V. The bandwidth is quite narrow; the quality
of picture and sound is, at the time, not convincing, even in Cairo.
Sound is available at 6.60 Mhz.

HOT BIRD 1, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hb1.html
----------
EDTV Dubai ceased transmissions on transponder 15, 11.516 GHz, H, and
was as expected, replaced by Canal Plus, Polski.
EDTV Dubai can still be received from Hot Bird 2, transponder 51, 11.747
GHz, H and Arabsat 2A, transponder 16, 4.058 GHz, Lc.
The signal of Canal Plus Polski, most of time in Syster/Nagravision
scrambled, can, for the time being, still be obtained from Eutelsat
II-f3,16 East, transponder 38, 11.617 GHz, V.

HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
As expected ceased the analogue transmission of RAI International on
transponder 52, 11.766 GHz, V, exactly after 24 hours of broadcasting.
The quality on the superbeam never improved over the reported poor
picture and very poor sound.
RAI restarted in between the digital tests on this transponder.

EUTELSAT II-f2, 10 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2f2.html
--------------
Turkish channel NTV on transponder 20B, 11.018 GHz, H, announced
on-screen on new year's eve, the start of the full 24 Hrs news cast from
January 1st.

EUTELSAT II-f4-M, 7 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2f4.html
----------------
BRTN, channel TV1, is again available on transponder 25A, 10.987 GHz, V,
in the clear, with sound on 6.60 MHz. (including Tele Text signal)

AMOS 1, 4 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
As unexpectly the ceasure of the Israeli channels was, so unexpectedly
some of them appeared again. Transponder 1L, 10.968 GHz, V, showed
yesterday evening the Israel 1 channel, transponder 1U, 11.015 GHz,
showed Israel 3.
The sound of Israel 3 is available on 7.20 MHz, in a very wide beam,
slightly distorted. The 6.60 MHz carrier is available but empty. Israel
1 has an empty sound carrier on 7.20 MHz, normal TV sound is on 6.60
MHz.

Today early morning tranponder 1L had a plain black screen with an
analog clock in the lower right, Israel 1 was broadcasting at the same
time the regular programming on Intelsat 707. Transponder 1U showed a
colorbar test card with the text "IBA Channel 3", identical to the
transmission of Intelsat 707, exept the radio sound, which was not
broadcast.

From late afternoon on Channel one and three were transmitted.

Transponder 4U, 11.510 GHz, V, was used today at 13:00 CET for a Israeli
feed.

Yoram Rotbach from Israel reports: The test cards on Amos 1 saying "EMEQ
HAELA" and "BEZEQ EITANIM" are two up-link sites belonging to BEZEQ, the
Israeli Telecom company. Both are located near Jerusalem.

EXPRESS 2, 14 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2.html
---------
After the ceasure of TV3 on this satellite there was only one day of
rest on txpr 16, 4.075 GHz, Rc. Today the main programm transmissions of
NTV (HTB) appeared on this transponder, with TV sound carriers on 7.00
and 7.50 MHz. This channel is not featured on GALS 1/2, 36 East. The
on-screen logo, in the lower left corner, is a standard NTV logo in
sky-blue with a green dot.

PANAMSAT 3R, 43 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
-----------
RAI received a feed in PAL, from Peru, on 12.701 Ghz, H, with sound
carriers on 6.60 and 7.20 MHz.
