----------
The programming preview channel 19 of the Showtime DStv package has been
switched off since 30/12/97. It is not known if this is a temporary
measure due to equipment failure or if the channel has ceased.

The new Kasach broadcasts of Khabar TV, on frequency 11.650 GHz, Rc, are
most probably of commercial nature, owned by a banking consortium.
Frequently inserts from several banks are shown, also semi-redaktional
information, related to the banking trade, is shown.

Al weather forcasts are underlayed with a logo of the Kazkommertsbank,
in the afternoon sometimes this logo is even used as a test card, in
alternation to the colorbar testcard. The well known Russian test card,
also seen on Kazakh TV, 11.550 GHz, Rc, is never seen on the Khabar TV
transponder.

The present advertising space is mostly used for Johnson & Johnson
products, in several variations. The previous seen MPEG2 announcements
could not be observed today.

GORIZONT 31, 40 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/g31.html
-----------
On the NVS transponder 11, 3.925 GHz, Rc, an extensive commercial
broadcast could be observed with a station logo of three moving circles
in the Russian colours White, Blue and Red, in the lower right corner of
the screen.

Ghassan Tabet from Lebanon submitted following reports:

Filmnet Hellas has started transmissions on transponder 55, 11.823 GHz,
H, widebeam. The reception data are: Symbolrate 25384, FEC 3/4, but no
reception is possible by "normal" means.

The D-box will overwrite Mediaset package and display "NO TS" and the
Pace 500 will not lock to the signal. In the D-box, the hidden menu
(radio 99 radio) must be accessed. In menu item 8 (receiver setup) set
the parameter: Freq : 2073 (for 9.750 LOF) or 1223 (for 10.600 LOF),
then Rate 25, OK, 384, OK, then FEC 4 (=3/4). Then save parameters, OK.
Filmnet comes with supersport Hellas (same program on two channels) and
four test cards (red green blue and random dots test card)

Comment Sat-MidEast: The PANASAT 520 was able to lock on to the signal
tonight, however only with frequency 11.822 GHz, H, SR 25834, FEC 3/4.
The carrier name was determined as: "SyNed", but no active channels
could be found at the time.

AB-SAT will cease its analog promotional channel on Hot Bird 2 by

Internacional, anouncing the change to the Hot Bird 2, is daily slightly
reduced in power. Still no announcement on a possible new user of this
transponder could be determined.
