THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.02.10 REPORT:

- GALS 1/2 Encrypted
- Arabsat 2B
- Arabsat 2A

GALS 1/2, 36 East, http://www.satcodx.com/gals1.html
--------
For Russians sure nothing new, but very unfortunate: today all NTV plus
channels started up in Syster and remained coded throughtout the day.
Against other expectations even the sound channels have been included in
the encryption.

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
During the evening a couple of transponder have been active for a ring
transmission through several Arabic States. e.g. Abu Dhabi, Jordan.
Transmissions have been observed untill 23:00 CET on 3.843 , 3.923,
3.978, and 4.087 GHz, all Rc, with sound on 6.60 Mhz.
Quality on the 3.843 and 4.085 excellent, with high signal levels, the
other two transponder had at least 20% less power.

Christian Lyngemark in southern Sweden reports medium quality reception,
on all received signals, by far not as strong as Arabsat 2A. Thanks !

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Throughout the day, with some short breaks, has Ku Band transponder 8,
on 12.661 GHz, V, been active with an empty carrier with medium signal
levels, without any sound carrier. This transponder was originally
reserved for Saudi Arabia Domestic Services.

EUTELSAT II-f2, 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e2f2.html
--------------
On transponder 27U, 11.138 GHz, V, Orbit Network broadcasted a live feed
of a concert of Arabic music, during the late evening. Sound cariers
were on 6.60 and 7.20 MHz available.

INTELSAT 705, 18 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i705.htm
------------
It took me a while, but I found on "Rose-Monday" a carnival feed.
Transmitted in NTSC and Portuguese language, from Recife for the TV
Jornal on 4.166 GHz, Rc, with a sound carrier on 6.60 MHz.

I couldn't find anything from any of the German Parades, what a shame !
Just a couple of minutes on DW TV and Euronews. Thanks a lot.

DR.DISH TV (Unfortunately still not for Middle East, maybe in April!)
----------

-----------
The Broadcaster pages have been reorganized in separated pages with an
index, while the single file was growing to large. The page contents had
minor updates. Some more detailed information on the construction of the
