PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
This morning at 07:00 Am started the long announced "STYLE" channel as
part of the Showtime Network on DStv channel 19, with a mixture of
documentaries, serials, and movies specific tailored for the needs of
the modern woman.
The used abrevial for the channel is "STY", all programming is in
(American-) English.
The renumbering of free channels took also place:
Ch 19 STY STYLE
Ch 20 DISC DISCOVERY Channel
Ch 21 FUT1 Future Channel (Free)
Ch 22 FUT2 Future Channel (Free)
Ch 23 ONTV Programm Preview Channel (not yet re-activated)
Frequency 4.036 GHz H was early in the morning, 08:00 CET, used to
transmit an ICI chairmans message, with following questions and answers
part. The subcarrier on 6.60 was empty, a stereo signal was available
over 7.02 and 7.20 MHz.
INTELSAT 602, 63 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i602.html
------------
Since 20/02 early morning the Mediaset channels on 11.012, 11.135 and
11.172 GHz, H, have ceased. They still can be received from Hot Bird 2,
in MPEG 2, on transponder 60, 11.919 GHz, V.
The feed on 10,971 GHz, H, with test card Lario E/S, is still activated.
INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
Christian Lyngemarks Satco-DX reported a new Egyptian MPEG2 package on
11.057 GHz, H. Further parameters still unknown. Who knows more ?
In the same report mentioned the uplink for Orbit of the Star Select
package on 3,825 Ghz, Lc, MPEG 2 with the channels: Star Sports, Star
Plus, Star Movies, CNBC and NBC, all uplinked from Hongkong.
ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
The reception of RTM1, Marocco on transponder 11, 3.925 GHz, Rc, is
getting noticebly stronger lately. Thanks for the incoming reports,
especially from Christian Lyngemark, SATCO-DX, Sweden.
ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
The signal level of the analogue ART transmissions on transponder 11,
12.724 GHz, H, have been reduced, part of the transponder carries now an
MPEG 2 signal.
Arabsat 2A. A constant screened message literally invites viewers to
call a telephone number (0056-91-6999) and report the received analogue
picture and sound quality. (see also following report on Hot Bird 2)
HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
Arabesque transponder 65, 12.015 GHz, returned yesterday evening for a
short while in analogue modus, with ART Europe, including the blue text
box, which also is displayed on the ART transmissions on Ku transponder
11, 12.724 GHz, on Arabsat 2A. The message literally invites viewers to
call the mentioned telephone number and report the received picture and
sound quality. The number on Hot Bird 2 is 0056-91-8811, on Arabsat
slightly different: 0056-91-6999, whereby I just wonder: isn't 0056 not
the international access code for Chile ?
The older ART/1stNET DStv announcement was yesterday evening shown on
Arabsat 2A, whereby still the frequency of 12.521 GHz, H, is advertised.
Reception of the 1stNet package on this frequency is however not
possible, while this Ku transponder 1 is used, in full, by JSC, Quatar.
Proper reception of the 1stNET package can be achieved by tuning in to
12.563 GHz, H, or 12.685 GHz, H, both with SR 19638 and FEC 7/8.
SME Comment: ART is most probably testing with an individual MPEG2
package from Arabsat 2A, away from the 1stNet/Showtime combination on
Panamsat 4, of course in preparation of the Cable and Satellite
Exhibition in two weeks in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
EUTELSAT II-f4-M, 7 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e2f4.html
----------------
On the usual for RTS reserved transponder 22B on 11.178 GHz, H, was a
transmissions for Compaq Computers in various languages seen, during the
late afternoon. Subcarriers on 6.60, 7.02 and 7.20 MHz were used.
INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
The signal of the feed transponder on 111X, has been reduced, on both
halves of the transponder, however percentage-wise more drastically on
the lower part, 111X-A, 10.968 GHz, V, were lately constant sparks are
available.
AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The Amos test card has been moved from transponder 3, middle frequency
11.159 GHz, V, to transponder 6, middle frequency 11.683, GHz, V.
PANAMSAT 3-R, 43 West, http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
------------
Early morning still the ESPN feeds fro NHK-NY available on 12.701 GHz,
H, in NTSC and subcarriers on 6.20 and 6.80 MHz.
In the late afternoon a very powerfull colorbar "PANAMSAT" testcard
could be received on 12.699 GHz, V, with a subcarrier on 6.60 MHz.
The signal was about 6 times more powerfull as usual, so I suggest
another beam has been used tonight. Signal strenght was comparible to
last weeks transmissions on 12.575 GHz, H, and 12.590 GHz, H.
Best regards,
Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
