THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.04.19 REPORT:

- SAT-7 on PAS-4
- NHK returns
- Bits & Pieces

EXPRESS 6, 80 East, http://www.satcodx.com/e6.html
---------
Russian channel TV3 on 4.125 GHz, Rc, is since three days decreased in
quality of both video and audio. Lots of sparkies and a noisy sound is
received.
AST on 3.925 GHz, Rc, has now become in Cairo, the single sparkfree
channel on this satellite, most probably using a different antena with a
more global beam.

PANAMSAT 4, 68.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/pas4.html
----------
Yesterday transmissions of christian broadcaster SAT-7 could be observed
on 4.040 GHz, H, PAL, with audio subcarriers in Arabic on 6.60 and 7.20
MHz. The normal contact address of P.O.Box 941 507 in Amman, Jordan and
the following contact numbers: Tel: 00357-2-452000 and 0033-1-45460188,
FAX: 00357-2-452111.

SAT-7 could be seen regular on Eutelsat II-f3, 16 East, 11.575 GHz, V,
widebeam.

The reception of NHK on 12.602 GHZ, V, in NTSC returns, bit by bit, back
to normal quality. The signal strenght is still far below previous
levels, but the picture has become stabil and clearly visible again.

In the SHOWTIME DStv package is now on channel 21 the stereo audio of
the STYLE channel transmitted. The video signal contains, beside a
flickering white bar in the middle/top of the screen, the previous
reported unresolvable digital mosaiques. Channel 22 still contains an
unknown scrambled signal.

TURKSAT 1C, 42 East, http://www.satcodx.com/t1c.html
----------
Since yesterday all Turkish State channels, with the exeption of TRT
International, are carrying the national flag with the inerted picture
of former Turkish leader Ataturk, due to a national holiday.

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
BAZTAB (a program from Persepolis Global Productions) started last
Wednesday on Orion 1: transponder 17, 12.685 GHz, H, and Arabsat 2B:
transponder 17, 4.085 GHz, Rc, both in PAL, Free-To-Air and is
broadcasting from 16.45 - 18.00 CET (21:15 - 22:30 Iranian local time).
An audio subcarrier is on both satellites available on 6.60 MHz.

The channel claims to be free of any political content and means, just a
general entertainment channel for Iranians in their home country and
abroad.

AMOS 1, 4 West, http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The mono TV audio subcarrier on 7.02 MHz on Israels IBA channel 1,
transponder 1L, 10.987 GHz, V, ceased today. The normal TV audio can now
only be heard from 6.60 MHz.

EXPRESS 2, 14 West, http://www.satcodx.com/e2.html
---------
On frequency 3.975 GHZ, Rc, returned the russian SECAM test card, in an
excellent quality with an audio subcarrier on 7.00 MHz.

INTELSAT 601, 27.5 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i601.html
------------
The transmissions of CFI on 3.910 GHz, Rc, were interupted today for
some time. A black screen with an instable CFI logo in the upper left
corner was reminiscent. The audio sub carrier on 5.80 was absent, while
other carriers remained intact with following occupancy:

	6.40 MHz	Radio France International
	6.80 MHz	Empty
	7.25 MHz	Empty
	7.70 MHz	Empty
	8.20 MHz	Raio Africa No.1
	8.64 MHz	Radio Japan

That concludes the daily update; for all of you travelling to the CabSat
in London: happy and innovative days, I'll stay home and watch TV!

Best regards,
