THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.05.05 REPORT:

- Orbit News
- EurasiaSat 1
- Arabsat 2B Ku Action
- Bits & Pieces

INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
Following info could be obtained on the new Orbit test channels:

Channel 06 a test card saying "Orbit ESPN 2"
Channel 18 transmission of the regular ESPN program
Channel 19 a test card saying "Orbit ESPN"

Info kindly provided by Sotos Ikonomou

SME Comment: Reasons for these additional cards could not be detected
yet. Should their be an unexpected turn and the service gets expanded?

EURASIASAT 1, t.b.l. at 42 East, http://www.satcodx.com/
------------
The new child, in planning, of Turkish Telekom and build by the French
Aerospatiale consortium, will be equipped with 32 Ku-Band transponder,
and will be brought into orbit, by a not yet named launcher, in early
1999.

Does anybody have more info about this satellite in the making ?
Frequencies, Footprint, Beams ? It could be a good thing for the Middle
East, as the present Turksat 1C is not bringing the expected quality in
both audio and video.

ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
Transponder 1 on 12.521 GHz, H, and transponder 5 on 12.620 GHz, H, were
both activated yesterday, whereby a weak carrier on the first mentioned
could be observed.

Transponder 5, in the Ku-band, had actually the same test card as shown
on hi-power C-Band transponder 21, 4.167 GHz, Rc, where now since a
couple of days the sound of the Lybian PR-TV from Intelsat 707, 1 West,
is transmitted on an audio subcarrier at 6.20 MHz. These transmissions
are NOT identical with the Lybian broadcasts on Arabsat 2A, at 26 East.

The test signal on 12.620 GHz, H, ceased today.

On transponder 17, 4.085 GHz, Rc, could a dia with the logo of BAZTAB TV
be observed, during the normal transmission hours. Untill now, regular
broadcasts took place from Wednesday through Sunday evening.

ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
The digital feed of LBC International has changed it's frequency to
4.010 GHz. VPID: 0134 APID: 0100. This signal is used to broadcast live
feeds to LBC PLUS and LBC EUROPE (presently LBC SAT), without logos.
Also, the normal program content of these two channels is transmitted
using this feed.
LBC SAT on the Arabsat 2A is up-linked directly from Lebanon.

HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
LBC Plus on 12.015 GHz, H, has now changed its logo to LBC-SAT, but the
programming is still that of LBC PLUS. This change is in preparation for
the creation of a new program LBC-EUROPE.
It seems that the full encryption of the Arabesque package will start on
the 15th of this month !

EUTELSAT W1, t.b.l. to 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/launches.html
-----------
From the total of 24 transponder on this satellite, which is scheduled
to be launched in January '98, are 6 reserved for VSAT services, the
restly eighteen will be shared between the present services on Eutelsat
II-f2, some additional TV programm provider and sng/sms services.
Information TV Network "Bloomberg" has opted for a transponder in order
to provide for it's digital services in English, French, German, Italian
and Spanish from this orbital position.

EUTELSAT W1, t.b.l. to 10 East, http://www.satcodx.com/launches.html
-----------
The, untill today, plain carrier on 3.975 GHz, Rc, was used tonight by
a digital transmission of unknown nature. Signal strenght was slightly
lower then noted during reception of the simple carrier.

which will get you resubscribed. There is also a new feature which
requires your confirmation in order to be added to the list.

This issue had a lot of scattered info provided by an injured Ghassan
Tabet. Thanks and get back your good health soon !

Best regards,
