THE HEADLINES IN THIS 97.05.08 REPORT:
- Turksat 1B
- Lybia on Arabsat 2B
- LBC Europe
- Bits & Pieces
Today just a few comments and observations, nothing really big...
TURKSAT 1B, 31 East, http://www.satcodx.com/t1b.html
----------
Unconfirmed sources observed TRT International analogue on transponder
5, 11.007 GHz, V, without an audio subcarrier on May 7th.
Several trials today could not reveal the signal, possibly it was a test
transmission, or is only targetted towards western Europa and not
receivable in the Middle East.
[Basic info from R.Petzold via SAT-Stefan Transponder News]
ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
Jamahirya Lybian TV has started today, 11:50 CEST, on transponder 21,
4.167 GHz, Rc. Program content is identical to the Ku-band transmissions
on Arabsat 2A, but NOT to that transmitted on Intelsat 707, 1 West,
4.020 GHz, Lc, opposingly to the sound carrier of earlier test card
transmissions.
[Info kindly submitted by Mohamed El Nadi]
Transponder 11, 3.925 GHz, Rc, showed in the morning the normal
transmissions of RTM-1, Maroc and was thereafter interrupted by a grey
test card noting "STATION TERRIENNE DAHKLA" translated "Dahkla Earth
Station", whereby the "S" was blinking.
At around noon CEST the carrier dissapeared completely for a while. In
the afternoon and evening however normal transmission could be observed.
HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
The channel listing of LBC Sat (LBC Plus) in the Arabesque package on
transponder 65, 12.015 GHz, H, has changed from LBC Plus to LBC Europe.
The logotype used yesterday evening was still that of LBC Sat, and the
program was still LBC Plus, but they closed down just after midnight
(CEST) and do not re-open before 09:00 (CEST).
From a direct phone call made to their distributor in Germany (the same
as for ART), they couldn't tell the startdate of encryption, but
commented that there are serious delays in the distribution of
smartcards to the subscribers.
[Info kindly submitted by W."Eddie" Rmaili]
Best regards,
Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
