And now the news:
---------- SUPERSPORT STANDS DOWN
SuperSport, the Scandinavian sports channel launched two years ago, has
finally left Intelsat 707. The plan to scrap SuperSport came not long
after Nethold, who own Filmnet and SuperSport, was bought by Canal Plus,
who decided to reorganize the Scandinavian scene. As a result, Filmnet
1, Filmnet 2 and SuperSport were to be remade into the following plan:
three Canal+ channels, one each for Norway, Sweden and Denmark, and an
extra channel to be available for all three countries.
SuperSport, a vital channel for motorized enthusiasts with a bitter
taste for Sky Sports, is now only available digitally in the
Nethold/MultiChoice package on Astra (which itself may soon move).
Sports lovers will have to make do with TV2 Norway and DSF.
---------- DISCOVERY ANIMAL PLANET TESTING
Discovery Animal Planet is testing on Eutelsat II-F1, 11,055 H. It is in
English and in the clear. Discovery Animal Planet is the third channel
from the Discovery bouquet to make it across to Europe, after the
Discovery Channel and Discovery Home and Leisure. It broadcasts from
18.00 to 00.00 every day with wildlife documentaries.
---------- VASA TELEVIZIA MOVES
Vasa TeleVizia, the Slovene general entertainment channel, has moved
from its usual spot on Eutelsat II-F2 to Intelsat 707. It has taken up
SuperSport's old transponder and transmits, as before, in the clear.
VTV's old transponder on Eutelsat II-F2 is now being used by Med-TV for
tests.
