And now the news:
----------
Today is a sad day as the World sees the tragic deaths of Diana,
Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed. You can sign the Royal Family's guest
book to convey your condolences at http://www.royal.gov.uk/ .
Here in the UK, the two state television channels, BBC 1 and BBC 2,
began their broadcasting early today and have started simulcasting on
both frequencies to cover the tragic events of today, under the name of
BBC Television. The usual schedule has been put aside for today. Similar
programming is going ahead with ITV, the nation's third channel. Channel
4 and Channel 5 devoted extensive time this morning to the incident, but
have now gone back to regular programming.
Sky News will be giving all day coverage to the event, and Granada Talk
TV has ceased a day early, and is now simply showing Sky News with the
Granada Logo present.
Other satellite channels which were showing the events at the time of
writing include CNN International, RTL TV, n-tv, Rai Due, Bloomberg Info
TV, BBC World, BBC Prime, France 2, France 3 and TF1.
Various feeds can be found around the sky today covering the event,
including on Eutelsat II-F3: 11,163 H and Telecom 2C: 12,606 V, 12,645 V
and 12,585 H. I doubt that many DXers will be watching as avidly today.
Princess Di was an inspirational and warm lady. Our condolences go out
to the Royal Family and the family of Dodi Fayed. May they rest in
peace.
Diana, Princess of Wales
