A new player is set to enter the digital television scene - @
Entertainment, a Polish media company, is set to launch Poland's first
digital pay-TV package. The package, to be called 'Wizja TV', will
consist of 14 thematic channels, ranging from Music to Shopping. The
digital package will broadcast from Astra 1E and 1F, on 11,992 H (tp
79), 12,304 H (tp 95) and 12,382 H (tp 99).
Wizja TV is currently testing on 12,382 H (tp 99), and whilst these
tests are being conducted, any available channels are being broadcast
free-to-air. These include Atomic TV, a Polish music channel, Knowledge
TV, an educational channel, and Shopping TV. Other channels to be
included are Wizja 1, a general entertainment channel, and a premium
movie channel like Sky's.
Wizja TV will begin full transmissions in April 1998, and will no doubt
be encrypted in some form.
