---------- MCE starts in Sky Digital
24 Music Choice Europe (MCE) radio channels have begun in the Sky
Digital package on 11.778 V, MPEG-2/FTA. For anyone who is not familiar
with MCE, it is a network of dozens of pure music radio stations; there
are no adverts and no disc jockeys. Sky has been planning to integrate
MCE into its digital package for a long time and now it seems the MCE
channels are testing. There are up to 46 or so data slots, so expect to
see more MCE channels soon! Rumour now has it that Sky Digital (aka.
BIB) will begin in ernest on June 1 or 6.
---------- Intelsat 801 at 31.5 west?

According to SATCO DX, Intelsat 801 is now at 31.5 degrees west and
transmissions have already been seen. Apparently there have been PAL
feeds on 10.966 V and MPEG-2 on 10.990 V. If you manage to catch
anything on this satellite, I would be very grateful if you could send
me a reception report! Remember, if you do send reception reports,
please include your location, dish size, LNB strength and if possible,
receiver model(s).
