Hello there, here's some cold hard facts to chew over.
This is a verbatum transcript from a press release by Telenor that answers
a lot of questions.
All dealers in Scandinavia were sent this this morning. 
Translation into "AlmostEnglish" by Tonya, Thursday 07/11/96 (about
teatime).

TRANSCRIPT BEGINS : 

1997 will see two new Scandinavian satellites, Thor2 will be launched
Feb-97 and Sirius2 sometime in July-97.
Combined, these will offer 31 channels that are available at positions
1-West - 5 East.
A vital role for Thor2 & Sirius2 will be to replace Tele-X, which will
cease transmissions in the Summer of 1997, and TV-Sat, which will close
down during 1998. Thor2 is produced by Huges Corporation and has 15
transponders, and will send in the frequency range of 11.20 - 11.45 GHz,
 and has a maximum effect of 52 dBW at the heart of the footprint (Norway).
It will also be able to be received outside of Scandinavia, as far as
Greenland, but naturally with reduced effect.
Sirius2 is produced by AeroSpatiale and carries 32 transponders, of which
16 are reserved for Scandinavian broadcasters.
The remaining 16 have been reserved by GE Capital Corp and are for
pan-European use.
Out of the 16 Scandinavian transponders, 13 will be used for television
use, the other three are reserved for communication use.
Sirius2 will utilize the frequencies 11.70 - 12.75 GHz and polarization
will be linear.
Output effect will be at least 53 dBW throughout Scandinavia.
Reccomended equipment for the new concept will be :
Universal LNB that covers 10.70 - 12.75 Ghz.
MultiMac decoder equiped with D & D2Mac  -  Eurocrypt M & S  -  Pal.
Double card reader recommended.
Receiver fitted with wideband tuner block covering 950 - 2150 MHz (to be
futureproof).
2 inputs for LNBs.
22 kHz tone capability.
14/18 volts switching.

- D-BOX TROUBLE (IN GERMAN)

Hallo alle deutschen d-box-User!

Trotz Versprechungen von DF1 hat sich nach dem neulichen
Software-Upgrade so gut wie nichts gebessert. Dennoch behauptet z.B.
Satelli-line im 3SAT-Videotext, dass die laestigen Tonaussetzer bei
DMX  durch die neue Softwareversion beseitigt sein sollten. 
Ich hoere sehr viel "Euro Hits" und "UK Hits". Nicht genug, dass sich
in puncto Ton/Aussetzer nicht geaendert hat, jetzt haengt sich bei mir
die d-box zusaetzlich noch auf, wenn ich zu schnell zwischen den
beiden Channels wechsle! Wie sieht es bei anderen aus?

In der September-Ausgabe der DF1-Programmzeitschrift wurde noch
grossartig versprochen, "selbstverstaendlich auch alle andere digital
ausgestrahlten Radioprogramme"  empfangen zu koennen, was natuerlich
nicht stimmt - bis heute is kein einziges deutsches ADR-Programm
empfangbar.

Die Dreistigkeit von DF1 schreckt aber vor nichts zuruueck. Sowohl im
Internet als auch in den spaeteren Ausgaben der Programmzeitschrift
wird nach wie vor behauptet, Musik "in CD-Qualitaet" (!) zu bieten.
Auf der Homepage wird sogar mehr oder weniger die Abrufung des Titels,
Interpreten oder Komponisten bei DMX-Programmen versprochen - ein
purer Hohn in anbetracht der Tatsache, dass sich diese Programme nicht
einmal umsortieren lassen!

Folgender Vorschlag also an Kunden, die als Beta-Tester missbraucht
werden, dennoch aber den vollen Abo-Preis zahlen duerfen:

Schickt and DF1 eine Mahnung wegen Leistungsverzugs mit der Androhung,
einen Teil des Abo-Preises zurueckzufordern, falls die Maengle
innerhalb von 14 Tagen nicht beseitigt werden sollten.

Es ist die einzige Methode, die Jungs zur Handlung zu zwingen. Es ist
ihnen naemlich aus mir unerklaerlichen Gruenden gelungen, ihr Image
bei den Medien (auch bei der Fachpresse--->Einfluss der Kirch-Gruppe?)
neutral zu halten.
