CBS To Launch New Channel
  NEW YORK, New York, USA, 96/08/23 (TS) -- Westinghouse/CBS has announced
the creation of a new entertainment and information channel called "Eye On
People." The new network will focus on the entire range of individual human
experience, say CBS, and feature people in the news or those that have made
the news.

  The new network will launch on March 31, 1997, and program off the back of
CBS News, CBS Sports, CBS Entertainment, Eyemark Entertainment, the CBS
owned television stations and CBS Television Network affiliated stations, as
well as the CBS and Group W archives.

  Discovery Channel will also be involved in the venture, Westinghouse/CBS
has formed a program alliance with the company.

  Eye On People will be transmitted via a digitally compressed channel on
Galaxy 7, transponder 9.
