ATN Launches On Alphastar
NEW YORK, New York, 96/11/28 (TS) -- The Asian Television Network has
begun broadcasting via the Alphastar Digital Television, the two companies
announced. ATN targets viewers from, or with an interest in, India,
Pakistan, Bangladesh and the West Indies.

The new service, which is available for $9.99 a month, began on
Thanksgiving Day and will be available 24 hours a day. Programming is
available in English and several major South Asian languages.

"It's fitting that we are launching a new multicultural channel on
Thanksgiving Day," said Murray Klippenstein, AlphaStar's President and CEO.
"America is a country built on the hard work of people who have come here
from dozens of countries around the world. By offering both a connection to
their cultural roots, as well as the best of American programming,
AlphaStar hopes they will feel more at home in their adopted country."

An audience of around two million Asian-Indians are resident in the US,
the companies said.
