News Corp May Offer ASkyB Stake
  LONDON, England, 96/12/28 (TS) -- News Corporation may offer up to 30
percent of American Sky Broadcasting (ASkyB), according to a report in
London's Financial Times newspaper. The share offering comes as a result of
the merger of part owner MCI with British Telecom.

  Previously plans called for MCI to take a 50 percent stake in ASkyB but
its merger with BT may result in it holding a 20 percent stake. The share
offer will involve the remainder of the stake MCI was to have held.

  ASkyB is planning to launch a multi-channel digital television service in
the United States in late 1997.
