NHK Off Philippine Cable
TOKYO, Japan, 97/07/07 (TS) -- The Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK)
has asked Philippine cable operators to stop relaying its BS-1 and BS-2
satellite channels, reports Reuter. The programs are intended for Japan
only, transmitted unencoded, and are being picked up on the island and
relayed on cable networks, aided by a lack of suitable laws blocking the
practice. The cable operators have been asked to use the NHK TV-Japan
service, an international service from NHK intended for use by cable
operators in Asia.
