Intelsat 803 Launch Tuesday
  WASHINGTON, DC, USA, 97/09/22 (TS) -- Intelsat will launch its Intelsat
803 satellite tomorrow. The craft is due to be carried into space by an
Ariane rocket from French Guiana at 7:28pm EDT (2328 UTC).

  The satellite is the third of Intelsat's newest generation of spacecraft
- the Intelsat VIII series.  Although temporarily located at 27.5 degrees
West in the Atlantic Ocean Region, Intelsat 803 will be redeployed early
next year to 21.5 degrees West where it will provide voice/data and video
capacity for customers throughout Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the
North and South American continents.

  Intelsat 803 is the first satellite in the world specifically designed to
deliver the entire African continent. Users will include Discovery, TV5
Afrique, MCM Africa, AB Cartoons, EuroNews, Canal+Horizon, Deutsche Welle,
RTP International and RTP Africa.

  A live feed of the launch is scheduled for GE-2 at 85 degrees W,
transponder 20, 4100 MHz.
