Apogee
During each elliptical orbit, a satellite will have a point of closest
approach to the earth - the Perigee - and a point farthest from the
earth - the Apogee.
For bodies orbiting the Sun - planets such as the earth - the
corresponding points are Perihelion and Aphelion.
The words come from the Greek: Geos - earth; and Helios - sun.
You may find it easy to remember that
Apogee is the Apex of the orbit.
