SESAMESTREET FOR THE MIDDLE-EAST
- Helping to reduce hostile cliché
mcr Hamburg. The children's series Sesamestreet, co-produced by Germany's NDR,
is to become a peace-bringer. At least that is the hope, voiced by Israeli and
Palestinian television networks, which start broadcasting the series April
first. Goal of this effort is to teach children on both sides "Respect and
insight  of and in the group." The puppets will like Kermit the Frog will talk
both Arabic and Hebrew.

BRUSSELS VOICES CONCERNS ABOUT DIGITAL ALLIANCE
- Problems for premiere and DF-1
mcr Brussels. The European commission has voiced "severe concerns" about the
planned digital television alliance between Bertelsmann and Kirch. The
"Handelsblatt" wrote, that - according to the commission - no other digital
operator would have a chance on the German market, if the alliance was given
green light. There were no chances of an approval from the EU. Both
mediagroups want to go ahead with the cooperation. "We do not want and will
not build a monopoly", says a Bertlesmann-spokesman.

GERMANY'S BIGGEST ON-LINE SERVICE WAS HACKED
- Two pupils did the trick
mcr Saarbrücken. Two 16year old pupils hacked into Germany's biggest on-Line-
provider "T-Online" from Deutsche Telekom. According to ARD's "Plus-Minus-
Magazine" they did no misuse with the system. But both were able to find out
passwords of other customers. Technically they are able to use the accounts of
other users. Deutsche Telekom announced a tightening of their security
systems.

Most of Wednesdays championsleague-games will be on EUTELSAT 7 deg. east and
NOT in Sound-In-Sync. So you can watch live another than that, that is shown
locally. The Scandinavian TV3-stations on 1 deg. West also show the champions-
league as does Germanys RTL.
