DIGITAL ALLIANCE - IS IT OFF?
- Will Murdoch be a new player?
mcr Güthersloh. Bertelsmann is preparing for a No from the European Commission
to it's alliance with the Kirch-Group in digital television. Executive Mark
Wössner told reportes, he assumes that the EU will say no to the alliance.
Heart of the matter is the merger of the Pay-TV-services premiere and DF-1.
Wössner accused the head of the European Commission Karel van Miert of
pursuing a backward-faced industrial politic. Rumors have it, that Kirch seeks
now an alliance with Rupert Murdoch.

CHANCELLOR-CANDIDATE WILL APEAR IN SOAP
- Schroeder on RTL
mcr Cologne. The SPD-Candidate for Chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder, agreed to
appear in an episode of the RTL-Soap-Opera "Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten"
(Good Times, Bad Times). RTL announced, Schroeder will guest-star in the 1500
episode, and will play himself. "I am glad to be a part of Germanys most
popular youth-series", said Schroeder. The episode will be broadcast on June,
22nd.

13TH STREET HAS STARTED
- New to digital subscribers
mcr Munic. With the new channel "13th Street" DF-1 has added another movie and
series-channel to it's bouquet. 13th Street has taken the place of CMT-Europe,
which has cancelled all it's operations in Europe with the beginning of April.
According to on-screen information, 13th Street is still in it's testing
phase, but will start normal services soon. Their repertoire include series
like Knight-Rider and Quantum Leap, all dubbed in German.

- Ricky Lake is back
Fans of controversial talkshows, be happy. Ricky Lake has returned to a free-
to-air-station. Dutch channel TV10 shows Ricky's show every weekday at
midnight. You can pick up TV10 digitally from EUTELSAT 16 deg. East.

- Cheers and Frasier back to back
That is a good start into the night. TVDanmark makes staying up late
worthwhile. With three very good comedy-shows back to back. Starting at ca.
23:00 CET with Cheers, the classic set in a Boston Bar. Followed by a spin-
off: Frasier - about radio-shrink Dr. Frasier Crane. Then it's of the WWII-
France, with BBC-classic ALLO, ALLO about the French Resistance. TVDanmark
broadcasts in clear D2-MAC from 1 deg. West.
