- Controversy about daytime talkshows
mcr Munich/Cologne. Arabella Kiesbauers daytime talkshow "Arabella" is in the
center of controversy about these kind of shows in Germany. According to
newspaper reports, Pro Sieben has cancelled all shows the sex-topics. Pro
Sieben reacts to threats of the board of directors of all regional media-
regulators, to force Pro Sieben to move Arabella into the evening. This is to
prevent an "endangering of childrens and youths". Pro Sieben has started to
beep all "dangerous" words, voiced in the shows, much like in american
television.


EURONEWS REACHES MORE HOMES IN GERMANY
- New language-versions are planed
mcr Lyon/Düsseldorf. EuroNews reaches more homes in Germany than ever. The
Lyon-based newsstation has added 1.5 Million households in Northrhein-
Westfalia and another 1.5 million households in Berlin to potential
viewership. 350.000 more household can see EuroNews now in Vienna. 250.000
were added through a spanish digital platform. EuroNews can now be seen by
more than 93 Million households all over Europe. According to Euronews-
Officials, it is planed, that the station adds dutch to languages, there is
even talk about adding russian.


BULVAR GERMANIA IN RUSSIAN CABLE
- Newsshow now also in Russian
mcr Cologne. Deutsche Welle (DW) tv's successful newsshow "Boulevard Germany"
can now be seen in Russian. It is planned to broadcast a russian version of
the Boulevard every two weeks on Russian channel "Kultura" in the next six
months. The magazine is produced in cooperation with RIA Novosti, producers or
the biggest Russian newsagency. "This is a milestone in the development of the
Russian televisionmarket for us," said DW-Director Dieter Weirich. "Kultura"
reaches more than 90 Million viewers, and is becoming more and more popular in
Russia.
