NO ALCOHOL COMMERCIALS DURING PRIME TIME
- New Regulations endanger Sports on German TV
mcr Bonn. The central board of advertising in Germany sees sports on
television in danger. The reason is a planned legislation of the ministry of
health to prohibit alcohol-advertisements on Radio and Television. This could
endanger, say the advertiser, even the existence of private television- and
radiostations, who make revenues of almost one billion Deutschmarks a year of
According to the lobbyists the ministry is planing to prohibit alcohol-
commercials between 11am and 10pm and completely prohibits advertisements
during events and on location. The ministry said, these plans do not exist in
written form and will not be made a law. They want self-restriction from the

mcr Hamburg. After the "No" from Brussels, Bertelsmann continues to build a
digital package without Kirch. Premiere announced this week to start a 15
channel digital package during the summer. The package will include special-
interest-channels like "Science", "Sci Fi" and "Erotica". No details where
given. In the meantime CLT/Ufa wants to raise its stake in premiere from 37.5
percent to 50 percent. The same goes for Leo Kirch. Both want to share 37.5
percent, that Frances Canal+ offers to sell.
- Star Trek: The Next Generation
YES - finally - the Next Generation has arrived again on a FREE and
UNSCRAMBLED station in english: TVDanmark broadcasts in open D2-MAC and in
MPEG-2 from 1 deg. West and has just started to show TNG on saturdays and
sundays at ca. 12:10 CET. This Weekend they showed "Mission Farpoint". Please
