NO MORE NICKELODEON
- The End in Germany
mcr Düsseldorf. With the end of May came the end for the german version of
Nickelodeon. All the staff said goodbye to the kids, as Nick Germany seized
all operations in on May 31st. VIACOM was 90 percent owner of Nickelodeon
Germany, which made losses of 117 Million DM. The company also lost 100
Million Marks with German VH-1 last year. No word yet, which broadcaster will
take its place on ASTRA.

PRO SIEBEN SEEKS CHANNELS TO BUY
- 1 Billion DM are no problem
mcr Munich. "We are ready for a big bite", said Pro Sieben chairman Georg
Kofler to his shareholders last week. He ment that his company is looking for
new acquisitions - new to channels to add. According to Kofler there is
nothing specific planned, but a purchase worth a billion Deutschmarks should
not be a problem. It is rumored that Pro Sieben wants to buy the 37,5 percent
of Canal+-shares of pay-tv premiere. Pro Sieben expects profits for 1998 to be
at least 20 percent higher than last years 254 Million Deutschmarks.

- Third Rock on SLO-TV 1
It was gone for a long time from free satellite-tv. Now the smash-hit comedy
"Third Rock From The Sun" is back: On Slovenian Television SLO TV1, which can
received digitally from EUTELSAT 13 deg. east. Third Rock is on Sundays at
around 23 hrs. CET. The series is about a group of aliens, who disguised as
humans, are on a mission to gather information about humans. Very funny stuff
indeed.
