La Chaine Sud (The Southern Channel) has started on 11.919 V inside the Mediaset
package with parameters: Video PID 0203, Audio PID 02A8.

La Chaine Sud is broadcast by satellite and is the first real answer of the South to
the Northern-Southern exchanges. Through it you will at last be able to see the real
face of Africa, the Indian Ocean and Caribbean, a creative face coloured by a rich and
diverse culture. It is intended as much for the many communities coming from these
regions as for the European public.

Now all programmes come from the French-speaking parts of Africa, later the channel
will broadcast English and Portuguese programmes.

The test period will last one month, starting from September 22, with two hours of pro-
grammes a day between 9 and 11 p.m., Paris time. La Chaine Sud will then offer ori-
ginal programmes to its viewers during 6 hours a day, starting from 5.30 p.m. These
programmes will be return three times a week.
