Dr.Dish:
A 1983 meeting of the RARC updated the WARC from 1977 in which the DBS
frequency assignments and channel layouts were allocated
For the Americas the frequency band 12.2 to 12.7 GHz were choosen. The
channel bandwidth is 24 MHz and channel spacing 14.58 MHz.
For Colombia the following orbital slots were allocated:
115° West and 103° West
Using the following odd channels on the C1 band in your country:
12.224 GHz
12.253
12.282
12.311
12.340
12.369
12.398
12.428
12.457
12.486
12.515
12.544
12.573
12.603
12.632
12.661
For DTH/DBS,high powered satellites are used, in order to receive the
signals with small dishes from 30cm to 90cm. Allowing a majority of
inhabitants of a country to afford a dish with receiver. Experience in
Europe and in the USA shows that such an installation costs about US$ 150,-
for an analogue set in Europe (lowest price) and about 300US$ for a digital
system in the US (lowest reported price)
