Depends what you like to do. If you deal mostly with strong signals, a
Uniden is comfortable. If signals are weak, try the LT87000, but in a newer
version with Panda Wegener-audio. The older version is in the audio
performance not accpetable. Look for version with software 4.0.
The older Chaparral Monterey is outdated, because the IF-range is too small
and the threshold-extension is not adjustable.
Donīt forget the Drake 800/2000-serie, which works fine on weak signals. The
2000 could be upgraded for control of a elevation-motor for satellites in
inclined orbit.
So, you see, it is difficult to make the right choice. Donīt expect the
ultimative receiver. Itīs not excisting.
