-----------
Russian broadcaster "REN-NVS" can now regularely be observed
transmitting in the early morning on transponder 11, 3.925 GHZ, Rc.
During the day commercial broadcasts from "REN-TV" can be seen on the
same transponder.
ARABSAT 2A, 26 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/a2a.html
----------
Jordan TV announced its start on Ku-band transponder 4 (previous Syria
TV), 12.578 GHz, V, on the Arabsat 2A. First uplinks should be expected
around January 18th. Present transmissions on the Arabsat 1C, 31.3 East,
will continue for the time being.
Abu Dhabi TV, United Arab Emirates, changed today the on-screen logo on
the Ku-band transponder 6, 12.620 GHz, V, and C-band transponder 14,
3.999 GHz, Lc.
The large colourful falcon has been exchanged for a smaller white oval
with a falcon head, in relief, showing in from the right, with the
Arabic undertitle "Abu Dhabi"
EUTELSAT II-f3, 16 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/e2f3.html
--------------
ART Europe started on transponder 32, 11.556 GHz, H, superbeam,
identical to transmissions on transponder 26B, 11.095 GHz, V, widebeam.
It has to be expected that broadcasts on one of these transponder will
be transformed in a MPEG2 transmission, most probably transponder 32,
adding some more ART channels, out of the existing bouquet of services.
HOT BIRD 2, 13 East, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/hb2.html
----------
On 14 January all Telepiu DStv transmissions will pause for a day, in
order to perform some technical changes on the network. It has to be
expected that the present up-links from Hot Bird 1, will be switched
over to the Hot Bird 2, adding some new channels to the previous set-up.
The present used Hot Bird 1 transponder 4, 11.283 GHz, V, and 7, 11.345
GHz, H, will be released from February 15th.
Both transponder have already been leased by other broadcaster of which
one is supposed to be a new German Music Channel.
Nethold will use one of his leased transponder on the Hot Bird 2 to
transmit a new MPEG2 DStv package for the Balkan region, using the wide
beam. The contents of the package are not released yet, but positively
will hold the Filmnet channel, presently broadcast from Eutelsat I-f4,
25.5 East.
The expected frequency will be one of the following: transponder 55,
11.823 GHz, H, or transponder 57, 11.862 GHz, H, or transponder 11.900
GHz, H.
A start date for the package has not yet been announced.
INTELSAT 707, 1 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
AFRTS ceased B-Mac transmissions on transponder 38, 4.175 GHz, Rc and
switched to digital broadcast. The signal level has slightly increased.
AMOS 1, 4 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/amos1.html
------
The present status of transmissions has not been changed since a week,
they are still of a feed nature. IBA Channel 2 still did not re-appear
on this satellite.
Transponder 5L, 11.552 GHz, V, was used today by IBA channel 1 for a
news feed.
PANAMSAT 3R, 43 West, SATCO-DX: http://www.satcodx.com/pas3r.html
-----------
Due to the regular broadcast from PAS 3 of two test cards, one in NTSC
and one in PAL, on almost the same frequency of around 12.700 GHz, on
both polarizations H & V, the quality of picture and sound has been
drastically reduced.
Best regards,
Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
