----------
SHOWTIME DStv Channel 22 has become active from this morning, carrying a
scrambled proprietary signal for the Cable and Satellite Exhibition in
Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Only special coded smart cards are able to descramble the transmitted
signal. Programm Channel 23 with the menu title "ONTV" is active, but
without recognizable signal.
INTELSAT 801, 64 East, http://www.satcodx.com/launches.html
------------
Intelsat 801 will be put into geostationary orbit on 7 March. The solar
arrays will be deployed on 9 March and its C- and Ku-band reflectors on
10 March. The satellite is scheduled to begin service in May 1997.

INTELSAT 602, 63 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i602.html
------------
On this, soon to be moved satellite , the empty, previous RETE 4
frequency, 11.105 GHz, H, has been used for an Italian feed, as well as
the RTI frequency 11.975 GHz, H, was carrying a feed at the same time.
Both carriers were using sound subcarriers on 6.60 MHz.
INTELSAT 703, 57 East, http://www.satcodx.com/i703.html
------------
The transmissions for Orbit of the Egyptian package on 4.135 GHz, Lc, SR
26950, FEC 3/4 can be loaded into the D-box only using the internal
menu, and following VPID's and APID's: (as I've been told...)
VPID 4021 APID 4022, ESC-1
VPID 5024 APID 5025, Nile TV International
VPID 5025 APID 5027, Egypt TV Channel 1 (Al Oula)
VPID 5023 APID 5023, Egypt TV Channel 2 (Al Thenia)
ARABSAT 2B, 30.5 East, http://www.satcodx.com/a2b.html
----------
Transponder 16, 4.064 GHZ, Lc, carried in perfect quality a feed from
Jordan, reporting a state visit from Quatar.
INTELSAT 707, 1 West, http://www.satcodx.com/i707.html
------------
Transponder halves 111X-A and 111X-B on respective 10.968 and 11.015
GHz, V, as well as transponder 73A, 11.136 GHz, V, have ceased
transmission of the test cards today. Channel 2 using transponder 73B on
11.176 GHz, is unchanged and active.
As Avry Ninio from Israel reported, a struggle between the IBA and BEZEQ
company, has been the reason for the unexpected ceasure in the end of
December lastr year of the Israeli transmissions on Amos 1 on 4 West.
At present time the IBA channels 1 and 3 are broadcasted from Amos 1,
without the services of the BEZEQ company, which however is still
responsable for the terrestrial transmsissions of the TV signal
throughout Israel.
After the ceasure of the IBA channels on Intelsat 707, the BEZEQ company
displayed from 02/03/97 at first testcards with the inscription EMEQ -
HAELA, later performed on transponder 111X, some MPEG-2 tests with new
equipment, to be used in the future for live feeds.
Best regards,
Henk C. Room / Sat-MidEast / Cairo - Egypt
