The next Ariane launch (V95) is delayed since "a slight anomaly was
detected while clamping the Thaicom 3 satellite to its adapter on the
Ariane launcher". Arianespace will announce a new tentative launch date
next week. The launch was initial scheduled for 11 April UTC.

Transponder 38, 11.617 Ghz, H, was used for a feed today, from a buriel
ceremony, in rainy Turkey, of the victims of an fire attack.
It is actually the first time I saw this specific transponder used for
SNG, after it had been reserved for the cancelled FTV service on this
satellite.

AB Sat promo has left 11,766 GHz, V, already yesterday.Some testing was
done in the early morning, in the evening a digital carrier was still
available. (Info kindly supplied by Armand Hadifé, Lebanon and Joris van
de Pelt, Oman)

The Arabesque package on transponder 65, 12.015 GHz, H, is opposite to
other reports, still free-to-air available, but only if the correct
PID's have been entered:

Turkish News Channel "NTV" on transponder 20A, 10.987 GHz, H, has
started with teletext service, called "NTEXT".

H. Peters received on his request a fax from RIK, Cyprus, presently
transmitting  on 11.141 GHz H,:
"Our [RIK's] intention is to move to Eutelsat II-f2, but at the moment
there is no capacity available on that satellite. At present, we have no
plans to move to Hot Bird 3 or transmit in digital form."

Israeli transponder 111X-A , 10.968 GHz, V, tonight used for the regular
saturday evening religious transmission.

On 4.166 Ghz, Rc, a report for German ZDF, from Pretoria on the
situation in Zaire, transmitted by SABC, Johannesburg, South Africa in
excellent quality.
Audio subcarriers were available on 6.60 and 7.20 MHz.

The same transponder and frequency has been used later in the evening
for a boxing feed from South Africa for ABC Sports with sound on 6.60
MHz audio. The same feed can also be picked up on 4.166 GHz, Rc, on
Intelsat 605, 24.5 West, but using a global beam, with lesser quality.
