NTV+ will have one additional channel

Executive manager of NTV+ Yevgheni Yakovich and designer general of
Bonum-1 company Lev Kantor said in their interview to Telesputnik magazine
about there will be one additional channel in NTV+ analogue satellite TV
package soon. This will become possible due to NTV+ leases TDF-2 satellite.
This satellite, formerly owned by France Telecom, was bought by EUTELSAT
recently. Now EUTELSAT gave it to NTV+ in leasing. There are only two
transponders now on this satellite for regular broadcasting. Their frequencies
are 11.881 Ghz and 12.034 Ghz. New channel will be transmitted from one of
these two transponders.
There is no final decision yet about what channel will be broadcasted
as a new one. But according to the words of Yakovich and Kantor they
consider it will be the channel for children. After an appearance of new
channel all subscribers have to pay more for NTV+ reception. Subscription
payment will increase in proportion. Now it is equal near 70,000 roubles
($12) per month for possibility to receive 4 channels. It is interesting
that the viewers from many regions with no possibility to receive NTV+ music
channel are also paying that sum.
TDF-2 satellite now continues its movement from previous position 18.8 West
to a new one - 36 East. This satellite have to begin a work from new position
during the period from November 1st until December 31st. You can see new

Digital revolution in Ukraine

No, the matter is not in rapid motion of digital satellite television in
that country. Now there is more actual purpose. Some months ago full
terrestrial broadcasting of Russian channel ORT was banned by Ukrainian
government. Since that time Ukrainian TV channel INTER became to include
some ORT programs in its schedules. But one thing gave not a rest to INTER:
the programs of ORT have a lot of commercial breaks in Russian. Finally the
decision was found. The head of press-department of INTER Igor Chaban said
the channel has modern digital equipment now. Using that equipment it's
possible to catch a moment of ORT's commercial breaks and to replace it
by own advertisement of INTER in Ukrainian automatically.
During his latest visit in Kiev Russian president Yeltsin said he has
an anxiety about the situation then the people from mostly Russian speaking
South-East part of Ukraine have not an opportunity to watch Russian TV
channels. President promised to help in something. Perhaps one of the best
help would be a beginning of clear broadcasting of these channels from one of
powerful and stable satellite with the possibility to receive a signal using
quite small dishes. It is impossible now but it seems there will be such
opportunity very soon there. Second working transponder of TDF-2 satellite
has to transmit unscrambled signal of NTV or NTV International. According
to published footprint map the power of signal in Eastern part of Ukraine
will be no less than 55 dbW.
RTR signed an agreement with regions

Russian TV channel RTR signed an agreement with Federal Radio and Televison
Service (FRTS) and Association of regional broadcasting companies of Russia
about the regulations of broadcasting RTR in Russian province.
The main problem which must be solved by this agreement was in regulation
of restoration of RTR broadcasting in regions in accordance with necessity
of sharing a broadcasting time between local channels and RTR using common
terrestrial frequency.
As a result of this agreement VGTRK company (the owner of RTR) will make
program schedules with taking in account an interests of regional TV companies
also. RTR will have a schedules with whole blocks of programs. So regional
stations can replace one of these blocks by its own programs. VGTRK will also
help local TV companies in coordination of common style of programs. FRTS has
to connect the relationships between RTR and local TV stations.
