---------- BR Alpha now on Astra 1B
As expected, the new German education channel from Bayerischer Rundfunk,
BR Alpha, has started on 11,686 V today. The channel is available in
PAL/clear, sound on 7,02:7,20 MHz only. The service also has teletext
called BR-ALPHA and a web page at http://www.br-online.de/alpha/.

Here is a reception report on Astra 1G by Sarantos Agiakatsikas in
Greece:
1.8m dish, 0.7dB universal LNB, Nokia 9200
Unbelievable reception - 134 units in the service mode signal meter.

Today, January 7th 1998, is Sat-UK's first birthday. A year ago today,
the Sat-UK mailing list was created and started off with only five
subscribers. Now, one year later, it has accumulated a staggering 780+
