Local TV A Turn Off For DSS Viewers
  NASHVILLE, Tennessee, USA, 96/08/17 (TS) -- A third of owners of new
digital multi channel satellite services are turning away from local
television, according to new figures from digital operator RCA.

  The company asked DSS system owners whether or not they received local
television channels. The results showed that just 68% tune into local
television news and weather. Many receive the channels via a regular antenna
although some households kept a cable TV connection for the local services.

  Typically, four out of ten DSS owners are in areas unserved by cable
television and are likely to be married, middle-aged and have a higher level
of education.
