US Military Launch Thursday
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida, USA, 96/09/12 (TS) -- McDonnell Douglas is
launching the US military's GPS-II-27 satellite on its Delta-II rocket from
Cape Canaveral, Thursday. The 31 minute launch Window opens at 4:49am EDT
(0849 UTC).
Delayed launch coverage is scheduled for 6am on Spacenet-2, transponder 18
upper, channel 24 vertical. This is 4180MHz downlink from 69 degrees West.
While classified, the satellite's name suggests it will become part of the
US military's NavStar system, better known as Global Positioning System (GPS).
