Direc TV Engineer Recognized
LOS ANGELES, California, USA, 97/02/14 (TS) -- DirecTV has announced its
senior vice president
of Operations, David A. Baylor, will receive a 1997 Black Engineer of the
Year Award for Career Achievement. The award will be presented at the
Morris A. Mechanic Theater in Baltimore, Md. on Feb. 15, 1997, at 8 p.m.
during the Black Engineer of the Year Awards Conference. Baylor is being
recognized by Career Communications Group, Inc. as one of this year's top
30 African Americans in the science and technology field in the United States.
Baylor oversees operations at the Castle Rock Broadcast Center and is
responsible for the operational and system design, construction, staffing
and on-air management of distribution operations for DirecTV.
Prior to joining the DIRECTV team, Baylor was vice president of Broadcast
Operations at NBC-TV for six years. From 1973 to 1986, Baylor held various
engineering and management positions at the Public Broadcasting Service
(PBS) where he was vice president of Broadcast Operations and Engineering.
